On location: Sandnessjøen

In the same way as in Santiago I used the questionare as a tool for contact and know-how about the local spare time intrestes. I asked what they prefered to do in their spare time and if there was a spesific place in Sandnessjøen that meant something to them. I then arranged some of the top scoring activities with a few of the people living at the local asylumseeker house. I photographed these that took place at a few selected favorite locations according to the answers in my questionare.
Parallel to this I arranged a small workshop for 14 teenage girls through the local councils outreech program, I introduced photography and the many different ways its possible to work with the medium. They got an assignment where they were to describe what the identified with in Sandnessjøen. They recived a camera and their work was exhibited at Alstahaug Kunstforening.
The openening took place as a happening with a quiz and prices, vaffels and punch, performance and games in the garden.
I also invited local artist Ina Otzko who compleated the works "Sammarbeid I" and "Kommunikasjon I" the opening weekend.
I attempted to explore the relationship between the place and its inhibitants and also issues around feelings of belonging to a place, what ties us to a place?
